Mar 30, 2022

Position Type: Full-time or Part-Time

The Company and Who We Are:
Hi, my name is Raymond Overton. I am the founder and owner of
Hawkeye Home Experts inc., Hawkeye Termite Inc. and Hawkeye Home Repair & Remodel LLC. Otherwise known by us as “Hawkeye Nation”. My  business partner Ryan Cooper, is Co-Owner and leads the “Termite Division” as the Certified Operator of Hawkeye Termite.

I have been inspecting homes for over 22 years. Ryan is one of the best I have seen in the field and I’ve seen many. This is why I asked him to join our company. His integrity to do the right thing for the right reason is in alignment with our company values. His expertise in inspecting and reporting his findings are top in the field.

Together, we are
dedicated and invested in creating a Unique Company that reflects our values, helps people and gives us the lifestyle we desire. We know this company will only be successful if we have the right people, in the right seat, on the right bus. If you’re reading this we hope you are that person.

We have a great team already and are looking to add to it. If you are looking to make a change in your career path or maybe just want to move up and on to new and greater opportunities, we should talk about it.

Let's open the discussion by having you complete the application. Please attach any resume or other documents you may have and we will be in contact with you shortly. We are an “Equal Opportunity Employer” and do not discriminate on Race, Creed, Gender or Sexual Preference. We love people of all colors, shapes and sizes. Really!! You just have to be able to perform the job duties required.

A typical day for our Termite Inspectors:  Ask yourself, is This for Me?

  • Preparation and education on what you will be inspecting ahead of time by online research of the property to be inspected.
  • Setting clear expectations by letting the client and agent know what time you think you will be ready for the walk through review.
  • Making sure you know what services you will be providing, who else will be present at the inspection, what other services are we as a company providing and making sure all your tools and equipment are ready to work.
  • Getting clear on who you will be working for and why. Have you worked for the agent in the past or are they a new agent?
  • Make sure your uniform is clean and tidy and your vehicle is fueled up and clean.
  • Make sure you give yourself ample time to be on the inspection on time. A little early is fine.
  • Make sure you will have enough time to complete your morning inspection and get to the next inspection on time. If you need more time, let the agent and client know what time you intend to arrive on the next appointment.
  • Inspect the property in an orderly and specific manner in which you were trained.
  • Complete your inspection and have the report mostly written on the handheld device at the inspection. This will be completed later but the majority will be complete at the inspection. We don’t want you writing reports at home when you are supposed to be present with family.
  • Provide a detailed and thorough verbal review with the client and agent or whoever is present and needs to know.
  • Use proper personal skills in your verbal review. Review your findings in a non-scary manner without negative emotion.
  • Do your next inspections in the same manner.
  • There should be ample time to finish the report on your laptop or PC at a location of your choice i.e. office, Van, Starbucks etc. The reports are normally expected the same day but within 24 hrs with exception of Fridays appts. These are normally delivered no later than Monday morning. If you don’t think you will be done on Friday, let the client and agents know what to expect. They may be on a tight timeline which requires you to finish.
  • Handle any problems that may arise such as inaccessible areas that need to be accessible to complete the inspection.
  • Provide follow up support and answer questions if needed. This is normally handled through admin but you may need to talk with clients, sellers, agents and contractors.
  • Most inspections take about 1-2 hours plus report completion , not including drivetime. You should know what you will be up against for the day by proper preparation and investigation.
  • A full time schedule is 15 inspections a week, three inspections a day for 5 days, Monday through Friday. This is open to change depending on your needs. Many Agents and Clients prefer evenings and weekends so they don’t have to take time off work. We don’t require anyone to work more than 5 days or after hours except to complete the report when needed.

Qualifications Required:

  • Good eyesight. Most termite and beetle evidence is hard to see, especially when crawling under a building.
  • Must be comfortable in tight spaces.
  • Ability to stay focused and follow a set pattern of inspecting
  • Great personal skills when dealing with the public in a stressful and emotional environment
  • Technically proficient on the computer. You don’t have to be an IT Tech but it’s a digital world and you need skills.
  • Dedication to ongoing education. You will never know it all but continually gaining knowledge is key to our success.
  • Comfortable in dirty and sometimes damp spaces with spiders and spider webs (Protective devices and clothing required and provided of course)
  • Comfortable in speaking in front of a group of people and being assertive to take control of a situation when needed.
  • Problem solving and investigative skills.
  • Ability to work on your own and contribute to the overall team.
  • Financially stable enough to live on reduced income during the training period which may take up to 90 days depending on your motivation and amount of time you can dedicate (Unless you are a seasoned and certified inspector already)
  • Physically healthy and strong to be able to perform the required duties of a large amount of walking, climbing, kneeling and crawling GI Joe style under houses.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • No inspection experience required. The right candidate will be fully trained and pass the  BRANCH 3 TERMITE TEST.

Ideally, we’re looking to hire someone that is already Certified and has experience. This shortens the training period and provides more income than someone who has no experience. Like I said, we will get you all the training you need and pay you to do it.

What we provide:

  • All training and certifications if needed.
  • All inspection tools required to do what we do
  • Computers, software and devices
  • Company branded vehicle
  • Continuing education costs
  • An opportunity for upward and or lateral movement in the different divisions of “Hawkeye Nation”

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Inspectors are paid a percentage of the inspection fee, plus commission on work completed. We pay on a bi-weekly basis. If broken down into an hourly wage it would average over $40.00 hr.
  • Full time seasoned inspectors can earn over $100,000.00 a year
  • A minimum, guaranteed, biweekly salary. (It naturally gets slower in the winter so this is the best time to take vacation time)
  • Insurance benefit Stipend after 1 year of full time employment
  • Paid vacation time after 1 year employment
  • Very flexible schedule that you control (for the most part)
  • Work with a Great Team on a Great Adventure. Why? “To See What It Will Make Of You” Jim Rhon

Sincerely,

Raymond Overton, President
